At the warm-up session of the Forum Dr. Marina Larionova presented an overview of the G20 work on promoting gender equality and empowering women for economic growth on the base of the ongoing project results with G20 effectiveness assessment as well recommendations on strengthening G20 cooperation in this sphere. Dr. Marina Larionova also shared with the participants the B20 gender-related activities and recommendations.

In his statement Alexander Shokhin emphasized the G20 actions to support SMEs, particularly in access to finance and integration in global value chains. Alexander Shokhin said that despite some progress the G20 should build continuity and keep on delivering because both SMEs and GVCs are drivers of economic growth.

In his statement Alexander Shokhin emphasized that assessments of business climate in Russia by international experts and Russian business are different. Russian companies are mostly concerned by a number of barriers including high fiscal burden, prices and tariffs increase, difficulties with access to credit resources as well as lack of qualified personnel. Foreign companies working in Russia are concerned mainly with administrative barriers and lack of protection of property rights.

Secretary-General of ASEAN, H.E. Le Luong Minh, welcomed the President of Global Green Growth Institute (GGGI) and former President of the Republic of Indonesia, H.E. Dr. Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono at the ASEAN Secretariat to discuss potential collaboration on green growth on April 11, 2016. Currently, five ASEAN Member States are members of GGGI: Cambodia, Indonesia, the Philippines, Thailand and Viet Nam.

Russia supports an idea of holding BRICS exhibition and fair on the eve of the Leaders summit

Russia supports the Indian BRICS presidency initiative to organize a large exhibition and fair on the eve of the Leaders summit in October 2016. Russia also believes that its initiatives elaborated in 2015, in particular on advancing export supplies insurance and reinsurance mechanism, establishment of BRICS rating agency, deepening joint research, use of national currencies in payments between BRICS member countries will be further developed and implemented.
