While the German government will assume the G20 presidency from China on December 1, 2016, B20 Germany was launched on September 4, 2016 with the hand-over from B20 China. The three responsible leading German business associations - Federation of German Industries (BDI), Confederation of German Employers' Associations (BDA) and Association of German Chambers of Commerce and Industry (DIHK) maintain a B20 Executive Committee, which takes all significant decisions on B20 Germany by consensus.
There will also be B20 advisory/advocacy bodies, above all a Business Advocacy Caucus composed of CEOs and business organisation leaders from the G20 states.
B20 established five taskforces which will elaborate the business recommendations to the G20 leaders. The task forces will focus on trade and investment; energy, climate & resource efficiency; financing growth and infrastructure; digitalization and employment and education. The Cross-Thematic Groups “Responsible Business Conduct and Anti-Corruption” and “Small and Medium Enterprises” have also been established.
A key event of the presidency – B20 summit will be held in Berlin (Germany) in May 2017 two months ahead of the G20 leaders` summit scheduled for July 7-8, 2017. In addition to the summit the calendar of events includes the B20 Panel at the WTO Public Forum on September 28, 2016 in Geneva (Switzerland), B20 Panel at the IMF annual meeting on October 5, 2016 in Washington, D.C.
